Senate kills massive bill to create new programs

The Mother’s Act (a bill that would inevitably land pregnant and new mother’s on psychiatric medications).

Mother’s Act: Is it a Violation of Informed Consent?

The Mother’s Act is the screening of pregnant women for any signs of mental illness, prior to giving birth and after birth.  The bill mandates use of the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS), shown to triple the number of women “diagnosed.”  The first question on the EPDS test is “I have been able to laugh and see the funny side of things.”  If a mother cannot laugh and see the funny side of things perhaps it is due to lack of sleep, (which will eventually improve), hormonal imbalances that can be addressed by the doctor or thyroid problems for which new mother’s should be regularly screened.  Mothers and family members should be educated on what to expect from being a new mother not drugged which results in additional mental and physical symptoms.   Read the rest of this entry »
